Tantalizing Tuesday's Tete-Tete's #No.4- Vengeance

Tantalizing Tuesday's Tete-Tete's #No.4- Vengeance

Prompts:fragrant, sustain, and petty

I looked around the room where the fragrant funeral flowers mixed with the smell of death. Only my sister and I remained of all of our family of fifteen.

“ How could this have happened Aline?" my sister asked.
“I'm not sure," I answered stunned by the devastation.
“I feel so petty I argued with Kern this morning telling him he couldn't come with us to Loch Ness."
“Neither of us knew what this day would bring hordes of foreign soldiers who slay in their wake.

“What are we going to do Aline?

“We take what we can and flee then we find the ones who did this, Edana and make them pay.”
“But even if we find them, we are only two women how can we punish them?”
“We find out who! We wait in hiding and we train with swords and armour. Then we vanquish them,” I answered.

The horde that killed our family was easily found for they'd taken up residence in our neighbour's home. We however were far from ready to take them on; so we hid in the woods beginning our training. The swords we used at first were too heavy, so I had the blacksmith in the town two towns over fashion lighter swords for us with what money we had left. it wasn't enough but the blacksmith took what we had, didn’t ask questions and only begged then when we went against the men that he too could come with us. He needed vengeance for his wife who was murdered as she visited her sister that fateful day. He made us armour and helped us train at night. By day we work as servants to the evil doers to sustain ourselves but I still I plan their demise.

Three months of training came down to today. The men that killed my family lay dead at our feet. Their death should feel like victory to me, instead it feels like ashes in my mouth. It did not bring back my family and Edana has changed to someone I don’t know. She talks little and is sullen. The blacksmith thinks I owe him my life as his wife for his silence and help.  I have traded one prison for another. What price vengeance?

Tantalizing Tuesday's Tete-tete's #No.3- Alicia

Tantalizing Tuesday's Tete-tete's #No.3- Alicia

Prompts :  bitter,encouragement, invigorate

“Mom? Are you sure this place is a school of higher learning? Didn't you see the sign? They spelled beginning incorrectly,”Alicia said bitterly.
“They probably ran out of letters. It will be a great beginning for you,”the mother encouraged.

The mother and child entered the school and walked towards the office to register.

“Fill out these forms.” the school secretary said
“Mom, third grade? Why did we have to move here anyway?” the child whispered.
“Alicia you know very well why we moved here now it’s time to pay the piper.” the mother whispered.
“Why can’t I go back to my old school?”
“The government was scared by the super computer you created. The school will never suspect that you aren’t nine years old. I have fake ID and a birth certificate.”
“Testing for all grade three students is today take the tests, but we’ll discount the results consider it’s your first day,” the secretary stated.
“Just do badly,” the mother commanded.
“I’ll try but it's hard when it's so easy.”
“Why did I create you anyway?”
“You wanted the first cyber child with the mind of a computer but the ability to love and an invigorating meaning to your life.”
“So I did. Have a good day sweetheart “she said hugging the child and watching her go.

They'd only have to pretend for a little while. Alicia would be able to graduate to the new body her mother was building then they could move on. Alicia would save the world as she was built to do.

Tantalizing Tuesday's Tete-tete's Offering #No.2- Climate Change

Tantalizing Tuesday's Tete-tete's Offering #No.2
Prompts”  1.)  caravan-
2.)  engulfed or engulf
3.) rebuild

                                                           Climate Change

As I watched the caravan go up in smoke; people around me said don’t worry you can rebuild. Didn’t they see the same thing I saw my life engulfed in fire? How do you come back from loss like that? All my pictures were gone of my family and friends over the years… gone in a few moments. I was devastated. My mother and father were gone, where could I replace those pictures.

A few days later I dealt with the insurance company and of course that was a struggle to prove that my possessions existed; the only good thing my cousins offered me photos of my parents. Months went by and all those people who had offered me a place to stay dried up and still no insurance pay out. Finally after a year I could finally purchase a new trailer. I chose wisely and found a beautiful new trailer had it erected on my property. Today I’m moving out again and there’s no time to move my caravan as the fire rages a mile from my home. I think I’m going to move to another place where forest fires don’t rage. Climate change is real just ask my neighbours.

soberly thoughtful; pensive.

“I saw you come home, Paul.” My neighbour said, “I know you lied to the police. You murdered your wife, Kasey.”
I have an alibi,I insisted.
“ No, you don't. I can prove you were in the neighbourhood that you entered your house five minutes before the murder.
Really and who would believe you?
“It's not a matter of belief. I have a security tape with you on it five minutes before the murder.
“Aren’t you worried if you think you’re telling a murderer this?”
“No, I think Kasey deserved what she got. She shagged everything that moved.Don't worry I can be discreet. I am not all melancholy and broke up that you killed the bitch.  I could use an infusion of cash. Say a hundred thousand to start?”
“Can you wait until Friday? We’ll meet at the old Tricon building at 5 p.m. and I’ll give you the cash then.”

My neighbour Jack then agreed. He’d be sorry he crossed me. Friday dawned; I entered the building and flipped the light switch. Damn the power must have been switched off. I knew the way though even in the dark. I walked softly across the floor trying to avoid the traps I set. I thought I succeeded until I felt something grab my leg. I reached down to remove the trap without causing injury and something exploded in my face. I heard laughing and then the lights came on.

“Hello Paul. Injured by my trap are you? You thought you’d kill me, but I killed you first.”
“I’m not dead.”

As I lay dying he told me he loved Kasey and that he killed many people that was his job as a hitman to the mob. I however was the first who deserved it. My bones would rot here no one would ever find the building was being demolished tomorrow. He left me and I tried to crawl out but I passed out waking only to the explosive sounds of the building imploding and me with it. They found me clinging to life. I was blinded and would be in a wheelchair for what remained of my life.
Though it is your unalienable right to stay silent we think you should confess to kill your neighbour and your wife.
But I didn't kill them,”I protested.
The cop laughed and produced the video tape of me entering my home before killing Kasey. he also produced video of me planting my traps in the warehouse before my neighbour arrived and the building exploded.

Jack had made sure I'd pay. I would be paying in jail until the end of my life. I only hoped I'd find a way to kill myself but even that was denied me so I sit in jail rotting and planning how I'll get even with the cops.A man can dream can't he?
