“If it isn’t
torrential raining, it’s blizzardy. I’m sick off winter. It’s like a circus
elephant doing tricks no one wants to see,” I complained.
“We’ve had one
of the shortest winters I remember so far; what three months? You’re such a whiner.”
“Shut-up Jack we
can never afford a winter vacation… “
“I’m sorry.”
“I’m sorry, too;
it’s just this weather; cold wet dreary and never ending. We’re in this
together I love you.”
“I love you too.
It will end soon and spring will come, then summer.”
The doorbell
rang and I wondered who the heck that could be all my friends were away on
their vacations. I peered through the peephole.
“Delivery,” a
man said standing holding something wrapped in brown paper and plastic.
Cautiously I
opened the door and the man handed me the parcel. I took inside and noted it
was addressed to me. Opening it I saw a window box with glorious blooming
flowers and nestled in amongst them an envelope. I opened the envelope and it
contained two tickets to Phoenix Arizona and a note that said,
Surprise my love, I’ve been
working tons of overtime; we’re booked off the next two days and now we can
have our vacation.
P.S. Don’t worry about the flowers, April says they’ll be
blooming when we get back.
Happy Early Anniversary
Love Jack
I smiled and
began to pack.
Jack and I had
fun and returned renewed and refreshed, my flowers a welcome burst of spring.
